Kris is a Director at AR&B Advisors. His main focus is on our clients: bringing in new business, servicing our existing clients, and making sure their advice needs and tax obligations are met. Meet the rest of the team here.
What drew you to compliance and advisory in the first place?
It’s been a natural progression through the tax and accounting field. I went from graduate, to accountant, to senior accountant, partner, and now Director. Through this, though, it’s been the advice piece that I’ve loved. That’s where you get the most interactions; the hard and challenging work that’s so rewarding when you achieve the right outcomes.
What’s one way your skills have helped a client avoid a major issue or unlock a new opportunity?
The main thrust of what we do is helping our clients identify and act on new opportunities. A lot of clients will know what their business does, but they’re so busy actually working in it that they don’t have the time to gear it for growth. And if you’re not growing, you’re stagnant. We help them see what else they could be doing to mature their business.
What’s something people don’t realise about your role that you wish they knew?
Most people still think that accountants just do tax returns. While part of that isn’t wrong, there’s so much more to it than that. We offer more services to help clients progress on their journey – whether it’s business growth, personal wealth, or other life goals.
What’s the most satisfying part of solving your clients’ challenges?
The most satisfying part of what we do is helping our clients understand all their options, and getting that positive outcome for them both in good and challenging situations.
How do you see your role evolving in the next few years?
If you go back a bit automation was the game changer, and now this is transitioning to AI. AI will play a big part in the future, helping to streamline our workflows and improve our processes – and this will give us more time to meet people face to face and have those real, human interactions that drive good business.
